A tropical tree native to Madagascar, bearing round fruit 4cm diameter, that is green with white dots, and that turns brown when fully ripe. The pulp is moderately juicy, with a slightly acidic flavour.
Spanish Tamarind, Vangueria edulis Was planted in the ground but it started to decline in the bone dry soil so seems that it is not as drought tolerant as claimed. The plant has now been put back into a large pot and seems to be responding well with a bit of water.
